The balcony is small, the chairs wobble, and it’s still the best address in town – certainly once the bottle is open and the conversation gets going. That’s the gathering our Weintauben t-shirt shows. Three pigeons stand side by side, each with a glass of rosé in a claw – one in a neckerchief, one in cat-eye sunglasses, one in pearls – all looking as though something very interesting has just been said. Finely drawn in the style of old bird plates, which makes the pun beneath it land all the better: “Weintrauben” means grapes, “Weintauben” swaps in pigeons. And the city pigeon, usually only cursed at, turns out to have the most stylish entrance of all. For everyone who drinks their evening wine outdoors, who likes puns worth a quiet grin, and who wants a shirt people comment on.
